When the scale stops moving

Plateaus are expected and are usually not a reason to change the dose. What to look at instead.

Weight loss slows. It slows for everyone, on every method, and it slows for reasons that are not a failure of the treatment or of you.

A lighter body needs less energy to run, so the deficit that produced the first several kilograms produces fewer of the next. This is arithmetic, not a plateau in the sense of something going wrong.

What to check before assuming the dose is the problem

  • Whether the trend is flat, or whether the last two weigh-ins are just noisy. Weight moves a kilogram or two on hydration alone.
  • Whether protein has slipped. It is the first thing to go when appetite is low, and it is what protects the muscle that keeps the metabolism up.
  • Whether the strength sessions have quietly stopped.

And if it really has stalled

Ask. A dose change is a clinical decision, and the clinician looks at how long you have been at your current step, what you have logged, and what side effects you have reported. The app will tell you when you are eligible to request one.
